Prohibition of Coal Export and Securing Supply of Coal for National Needs
The Directorate General of Mineral and Coal (“DGMC”) issued the DGMC Letter Number B-1605/MB.05/DJB.B/2021 of 2021 regarding the Fulfillment of Coal Needs for General Electricity on 31 December 2021, which prohibits coal exports to foreign countries. The issuance of such policy serves as a response to the issuance of the letter from the President Director of PT PLN (Persero) Number 77875/EPI.01.01/C01000000/2021-R regarding the Coal Supply Crisis for the Steam Power Plant of PLN and Independent Power Producer.

Direktorat Jenderal Mineral dan Batubara (“DJMB”) menerbitkan Surat DJMB Nomor B-1605/MB.05/DJB.B/2021 tahun 2021 tentang Pemenuhan Kebutuhan Batubara untuk Kelistrikan Umum pada tanggal 31 Desember 2021 yang secara resmi melarang ekspor batubara ke luar negeri. Langkah ini merupakan respons atas diterbitkannya surat Direktur Utama PT PLN (Persero) Nomor 77875/EPI.01.01/C01000000/2021-R perihal Krisis Pasokan Batubara untuk Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Uap PLN dan Independent Power Producer.
